Note: Ran across this recipe idea in a Facebook post from dinneratthezoo.com. We liked the idea and did a little improvisation. This serves about four but can be easily scaled.
Ingredients
- 1 1/4 lbs sirloin steak
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ¼ cup flour
- 4 tablespoons butter
- ½ onion, sliced
- 2 -3 cloves minced garlic
- salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon minced parsley
- ½ pkg. Onion soup mix
- 1 cup water
- Kitchen Bouquet
Directions
- Trim the sirloin, add salt and pepper to flour, coat steak with flour, and beat the flour into each side with the edge of a saucer.
- Cut sirloin into bite sized pieces.
- Heat the olive oil in a large pan over medium heat.
- Sauté onion until it begins to clear.
- Add sirloin and cook until brown and crusty.
- Add the butter and garlic to the pan; cook for 1-2 minutes, stirring to coat the meat in the sauce.
- Add onion soup to the cup of water and then add to the meat mixture and stir to thicken. You can add to the color and richness by adding about a teaspoon of Kitchen Bouquet.
- Serve and garnish with parsley.
Choose your side – Jasmin rice, wild rice, mashed potatoes, etc. and your veggie of choice.
