Note: We ran across the original recipe at: http://www.sweetlittlebluebird.com/2016/10/easy-slow-cooker-smothered-pork-chops.html
We added our touch, and it is a rich, savory meal. Serve with mashed taters, pasta, egg noodles or whatever suits your fancy. The gravy is rich and will complement any side.
Ingredients
- 4 pork chops, we like the thick ones
- 1 can condensed cream of mushroom soup
- 1 can condensed cream of chicken soup
- 1 packet Onion Soup Mix
- ½ medium onion, diced
- 1-2 cloves garlic, minced
- 6-8 portabella mushrooms, coarsely chopped
- 1 cup chicken or vegetable stock
- salt and pepper to taste – we wait to the final taste testing to add salt because of the sodium in the soup
Directions
Spray slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray. In a large bowl, mix condensed soups, onion soup mix, mushrooms, onion, garlic and broth. Mix well. Layer a mixture on the bottom of the cooker, lay the pork chops over the mixture and pour the rest of the goodies over the chops. Cook on low for 7 to 8 hours. If you are in a hurry, 4-5 hours on high will work.
Note: We will try this recipe next with a pork loin. It should be just as savory. If you do it first, share.
